Chuck's Handmade Masks

Chuck studied Neutral and Character Mask with Pierre Lefevre and Commedia D'el Arte with Perry Schniederman at the National Theatre School of Canada where he fell in love with the process of creating characters with these versatile half-masks.
Upon returning to Newfoundland to ply his craft as an actor, he found his skills as a three-dimensional make-up artist (latex noses, chins, ears, scars, bullet holes, etc.) came in handy when he was commissioned to make a set of commedia masks for Wonderbolt Circus' Servant of Two Masters.

Since 1994 Chuck has been designing and building Commedia d'el Arte and Character masks and has built up a catalogue of over 60 plaster casts. His masks have been sold as sets to High School Drama Clubs, Theatre Companies and many have been purchased individually by professional actors including several at the Stratford Festival.
Chuck's Acting with Masks workshops have grown in demand over the years and he has been a visiting artist in schools all over Newfoundland and Labrador and around the National Capital Region.

He has designed masks and three-dimensional make-up for the Wonderbolt Circus productions of Laughtershock, Servant of Two Masters, In The Court of King Tizzy and Maid of Avalon.
Each mask is individually handcrafted in latex with a terry cloth lining for added comfort. The masks are then hand painted and since no two masks are painted the same you are guaranteed a unique wearable work of art. Adjustable straps enable the masks to fit faces of varying shapes and sizes.

These masks have the magical quality of enhancing the personality of the character beneath.
Chuck Herriott Handmade Masks sell for
